Manufacturing

“Lost-Wax” Investment Castings and Forgings

Image of the FactoryThese process has been developed over many centuries to achieve a high surface finish, tight tolerances, complex shapes in a limited number of production steps. These processes are now recognised as the most cost-effective for the mass production of high complexity/specification components in the medical sector.

Machining

CNC and none CNC methods of machining, primarily lathes and machining centres, are used in the manufacture of our products.

Heat Treatment

Heat treatment of implants is primarily used for stress relieving the products after welding or mechanical processing.
Companies with considerable experience of heat treating orthopaedic implants are used in the manufacture of our products.

Special Coatings

Special coatings are applied to orthopaedic implants to improve stability of the implant in the body and to encourage bone growth to improve rapid fixation within the bone.
Companies with over 20 years  experience are available in our region to carry out this process.

Non-Destructive Testing

Image of the FactoryNone destructive testing is carried out so as to ensure that implants are free of defects which would cause the implant to fail once implanted.

Companies are used with the necessary expertise in x-ray and fluorescent penetrant inspection.

Finishing & Polishing

Finishing & polishing processes are carried out to achieve the surface finish required for the implant. Extensive expertise is available to our company from workers in the cutlery trade.

Packing and Labelling

Accuracy and attention to detail is essential in this process to provide traceability for our whole product range. Detailed training of operators takes place so as to avoid error.

Sterilisation

This validated process is performed and controlled by companies with extensive expertise of sterilising medical devices.
